Cortlandt Forum Cartoon - 2002
This was a full page in the medical magazine, around 2002. Back in the good old days BEFORE " LE'MANKOFFER'S WAL-MART CARTOON BANQUE SOIVICE " emerged and gobbled up the remaining good cartoon markets across the land by drastically dropping prices and making it easier for editors to buy their cartoons online . . one of the first type people to offer the service . . It was GREAT for the magazine editor and great for The Mankoffer and great for the cartoonists with thousands of New Yorker rejects sitting on a shelf and getting rid of them through the "BANQUE " and bringing them a nice regular monthly check. It's called PROGRESS. INNOVATION. MARKETING. USING YOUR HEAD, FINDING A NEED AND FILLING IT. FREE ENTERPRISE. CAPITALISM. WALMARTISM. A BOX STORE FOR CARTOON SHOPPERS. Hey, get over it. It's here.

Cartoon of the Day
Back in the 50's you used to see cannibal cartoons in many of the Men's magazines like True, Argosy, For Men Only, Stag and even in family magazines like The Saturday Evening Post and Collier's and of course The New Yorker . . . Those days are probably gone, but just for the hell of it, here's my contribution . . in 2008 no less ! I say BRING 'EM BACK !

Cartoon of the Day
Just returned last night from a three-day trip to Florida. Visited Bob Rafferty, one of America's great long-time successful gagwriters. Bob and his lovely wife Loys have written 10 books. Mostly travel guides in large well known resort areas and cities throught the U.S. They are avid travelers and go on a cruise about once a year. Bob was one of Hank Ketcham's main gagwriters in the early years and is mentioned in " The Merchant of DENNIS the Menace ", Hank Ketcham's story of Dennis and himself.

Cartoon of the Hour
I've redrawn this one a half-dozen times in the last 5 years. ( And I keep sending it out ) I personally like it.
As Sam Gross told Lee Lorenz, then the cartoon editor of The New Yorker, years ago . . as Lee was looking at one of his cartoons in his office, Lee remarked: " Haven't you shown this one to me before ? " Knowing Sam, he quickly replied: " Yeah . . and you're gonna KEEP seeing it till you buy it ! " I love it. This story came out in one of Mort Gerberg's books on Cartooning. Great tale, love it! I talked to both Mort and Sam about the story and they both love it also.

Cartoon of the week
I remember the old days when an editor might say: we like cartoons about bums, tramps, hobos, etc.
These people don't exist anymore . . now they're now just poor, homeless, uneducated, worthless, destitute, life-challenged, hopeless, disadvantaged, unfortunate saps.
There's actually nothing funny about their situations, many times it is not their fault, but what the hell . . a funny gag is a funny gag . .

Brand New Medical Economics Cartoon
There's a guy in my town I see at the post office with a beard like this . . I try not to stare, but it's not easy . . If I don't pay any attention to him, I'm afraid he might say: " Hey, don't you see this huge beard ? . . Don't tell me you didn't notice it ! " . . . and if you do stare at the extra long, scraggly, strange beard, he might say;\: " Hey, what the hell are YOU staring at ? ! " The way people are so touchy these days you're afraid he might have an AK-47 under that black trench coat . . . What's the best thing . . AVOID EYE CONTACT ?
Question to you out there . . HOW DO YOU HANDLE THIS ? Let's get some opinions !

Best Cartoon of the Week
Anyone who's been chased or " badgered " by the IRS will appreciate this cartoon.
Those guys will follow and chase you through hell if they have to, that's why all the field agents have a special suit and underwear made of asbestos . .
My brother, Rudy Delgado just retired from the Internal Revenue Service ( San Francisco area ) after 50 some years . . He's got some real good stories . .

New American Legion Cartoon
As usual, this one was also rejected by The New Yorker, so I immediately sent it to American Legion Magazine, since that was on my list of who gets my next batch of New Yorker rejects . . and bingo! They bought two from that batch. Since the original drawing was in black and white, and they requested a color version, ( since they only publish color cartoons ) I was able to retrieve a copy from my files and with my Corel PaintShopPro9 Program I colored it on the computer, made a nice print on heavy photo matte paper and mailed it back.
I love The New Yorker Magazine.
