First for Women cartoon - Roy Delgado

This drawing appears on page 98 in the October issue of the magazine. The drawing was submitted as a print from a black and white ink drawing ( using a Micron pen ) with the shading in the Dad's trousers and the boy's pants already inserted in the print using my trusty Corel PaintShopPro 9 program.

The gagline and smile file box was reset in grey and to their size by the magazine's art dept.

Ftrst for Women cartoon

Just sold this one yesterday . . news came via the computer . . and the finish and the billing and contract were all executed over the internet.

Yes, we ARE moving towards a paperless office . . next, they'll stop making paper, then pencils . . by then all of the india ink mfrs. are bankrupt ( Almost there now ) . . . I just cleaned up the drawing, added a little shading, and in a few minutes . . zap, the whole transaction was over . . and no 9x12 envelope for the finish . . and no postage stamps . . no trip to the post office . . as Bruce Williams used to say . . WHERE IS THE HOOK ? let's embrace it, man ( AND women ) !

ZEIS Original Cartoon Circa 1954

This cartoon was the result of a letter to Mr. Zeis where I begged him for an original of his . . this was when I was neophyte attending Billy Hon's Cartoon School in Los Angeles, CA.
In my opinion, he was one of the top 5 cartoonists of the day . . This one I believe came out in the old 'Post.
His neat contemporary draughtsmanship showed he knew the art of cartooning. Mr. Zeis influenced many cartoonists I'm sure. He SURE had an effect on me.
