Vote for Your Favorite Contemporary Magazine Gag Cartoonist 2008

This is an informal Poll of your favorite Major Magazine gag cartoonist. My vote, I have 3:
One is Sam Gross and the other is the French cartoonist Sempe, and the third is Marty Murphy.
The only rule is that the person's work must, or should show that the person has attempted to learn to draw ( No Cartoonist Impersonators ). You may choose a maximum of three. End of contest is January 30, 2008. Results to be posted February 1, 2008.

Roy, do you mean the 3 best cartoonists of the present day? Cartoonists who are still living and producing work? Or are you thinking of all time?

Just wondering.

Off the top of my head, I would list these 3 great working cartoonists:

Sempe

John Caldwell

P.C. Vey

Of course, I'll change my mind about this in ten minutes!

Three all time great gag cartoonists:

Chon Day

VIP

Don Orehek (who is alive and well and has a cartoon in this month's PLAYBOY)

Thanks for this, Roy.

We KNOW George Herriman was a comic cartoonist, but what the hell, in THIS contest, I'm bending the rules !
George Herriman would've been a GREAT gag cartoonist !

Dead guys:
Charles Addams
VIP
Peter Arno

Living guys:
Sam Gross
Danny Shanahan
Glen McCoy

It's tough though. I could have a list of ten guys off the top of my head and it would be hard to rank them in order.
