Here's a cover that if you DID see it on the newsstand, you'd probably say hey a nice cartoon cover . . looks like a New Yorker cover, interesting, got my attention, who the hell IS this guy ? . . I never saw HIM before in ' The New Yorker ' . . .
Am I biased, YES, I did it.

Nothing special to say, Roy -- just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your postings. Keep up the good work -- and keep after Mankoff!

Hi Eli,
Coming from a real pro like yourself, I appreciate your kind words, and I'm glad you enjoy my musings and a little B.S.thrown in . . . Man, I sometimes remember when you and I were in the twin towers a few years back
for the Wall Street Journal exhibit and book signing . . I think back and it's erie . .

Hi Roy...
No. The NYer doesn't really look at the cartoons. They look at the names on the envelopes. It's faster and helps avoid unnecessary papercuts to staff.
So, to help avoid any cartoon submission oversites on their part, I've decided to legally change my name to Charles Addams.
update...
The Chas. Adddams thing didn't work. All my cartoons are now being published by the dead letter office.
next update...
I've mailed myself in a big Christmas letter to Santa and addressed it to Bob Mankoff. I'm sitting here inside that very giant letter in the New Yorker office, behind Bob's desk. I think it's Tuesday because I can hear cartoonist's work being PERSONALLY rejected.
another update...
Can you believe it??? The Christmas letter to Mankoff idea didn't work. Turns out he's JEWISH! I did, however, steal a pad of 5 x 7 inch NYer rejection slips. I'll mail you a few, but I'm keeping the rest for myself so I can send them to Bob every week throughout 2009.

Hey Dan,
Nice interesting observations, I'm sure they're all true ! Believe it or not ( This is true ), A person who works at the New Yorker,
( Can't reveal the name ) suggested to me, seriously to submit under a different name, tell them I'm a gay person from Africa ! ( Probably because in an interview Mankoff suggested he was looking for more differsity )
